John Hammond formed the Border Fine Arts company in 1974 after a chance visit to Scotland. Setting up a base in an eighteenth-century farmhouse just outside Langholm, the brand quickly outgrew their home as orders for their animal sculptures poured in, requiring them to settle into bigger premises in town. Border Fine Arts’ popularity came as a response to their accurate painting on figurines full of acutely observed fine details. It is this quality of workmanship and authenticity which earned the company a Scottish Business Achievement Award. Border Fine Arts today is still a British company entirely manufactured within the UK.
