Influenced by Eastern culture and design, Kimmidolls are a fresh take on the traditional Japanese Kokeshi Dolls which embody simplistic Eastern beauty – stylised forms paired down to a minimal doll figure, each featuring a round head and cylindrical limbless body upon which the Kimono design can take central stage.
Kokeshi Dolls are Japanese dolls dating back to the 19th Century. Originally they were made by peasant farmers, hand carved out of wood to be given as gifts to express love and friendship. Kimmidolls build on this art form by aiming to create a range of contemporary collectable dolls which each have an individual meaning to express “Life’s True Values”.
Either as a gift or as a decorative item for the home, Kimmidolls exhibit contemporary design with a vintage Eastern flavour, whilst standing for a particular sentiment or value. Kimmidoll designs will be developed regularly to provide an extensive range of products which explore important life values.
